International law firm RPC appoints Sumyutha Sivamani as a Partner in its Singapore office – where it operates joint law venture RPC Premier Law – further strengthening its insurance capability across the region and accelerating the expansion of its cyber and data practice.

Sumyutha Sivamani joins RPC from Clyde & Co bringing over 14 years' experience in insurance, with a particular focus on complex cyber risk, incident response and data privacy matters. She has advised insurers, reinsurers and multinational clients across Asia on high-value, multi-jurisdictional cyber incidents, coverage disputes and regulatory investigations. Sumyutha will play a crucial role in driving the growth of the cyber insurance platform in Singapore and across the region.

Beyond her core cyber practice, Sumyutha has deep experience across financial lines and property & casualty insurance, advising on coverage, regulatory and defence matters, and will bolster RPC's broader Singapore insurance capabilities.

At RPC, Sumyutha will play a key role in expanding the firm's cyber insurance offering and enhancing the firm’s data privacy and cybersecurity advisory capabilities in Singapore and across Asia, while also supporting the continued growth of its wider insurance practice. Sumyutha's arrival follows the recent hire of Tom Mungovan, a recognised specialist in financial lines and D&O, in London.

Partner Carmel Green, who heads RPC's Asia Insurance team, said: "Sumyutha's arrival marks an exciting moment for our Asia Insurance practice. Cyber insurance remains one of the fastest growing and most dynamic lines of business in the Asian market, and clients rightly expect sophisticated services and advice. Just as importantly, Sumyutha's broader insurance expertise strengthens our bench across key lines of business. Her wealth of experience perfectly aligns with our ambitions, positioning us to drive the next phase of our growth for our insurance practice in Singapore, and across the region."

Partner Jonathan Crompton, who leads RPC's Cyber Response practice in Asia, added: "Sumyutha is known as being one of the best cyber breach counsel in Asia. Sumyutha's arrival is a tremendous boost to our regional cyber practice, and our mission to be the best cyber response firm in Asia. As cyber incident preparedness, response and data privacy issues become more complex and cross-border in nature, more clients need the seamless support across Asia that our team can offer. With her deep cyber experience, Sumyutha will work hand in hand with our existing cyber team across Hong Kong and Singapore to deliver truly integrated, end-to-end incident response and advisory capabilities to clients with cyber issues across the region."

Commenting on joining the firm, Sumyutha said: "I'm delighted to be returning to RPC at a time of strong momentum for both the firm and the cyber insurance market in Asia. The cyber threat landscape, legal and regulatory landscape and the cyber insurance market continues to evolve at a rapid pace across Asia, and RPC's commitment to continuing to expand its cyber offering - combined with its strong insurance platform - creates a fantastic opportunity to solidify our position as truly marketleading. I look forward to working with the team to further strengthen RPC's cyber offering and to contributing to the continued growth and success of the wider insurance practice across Asia."
