Partner

Scott Schechter is a Partner in RPC’s New York office. He is widely recognised for his strategic insight and his ability to coordinate complex, multi-jurisdictional matters, particularly those involving US litigation, London Market and domestic exposures.

Scott advises London Market and US-based insurers on complex coverage issues and high-stakes disputes, with a particular focus on Financial Lines, management liability (including D&O), fiduciary liability, professional indemnity/E&O, transactional risks (including W&I and tax indemnity coverage) and Cyber. He has extensive experience acting on securities class actions, regulatory investigations and professional liability claims involving parallel proceedings and cross-border coordination across the US and UK. A significant part of Scott’s practice involves advising on matters where US litigation realities must be aligned with international policy intent. He supports insurers on claims involving conflicting legal frameworks, jurisdictional complexity and heightened commercial sensitivity, working closely with colleagues in London and across Asia to deliver cohesive, outcome-focused strategies.

Scott also has deep experience advising insurers and insureds on transactional liability matters, as well as defending claims involving financial institutions, fintech companies, directors and officers, and professional advisers. He is known for his practical, responsive approach and his focus on helping clients cut through complexity, acting with confidence and achieving commercially sound outcomes on their most challenging claims.

Scott is admitted to practice in New York and is a regular contributor to industry publications and panel discussions, particularly on issues relating to financial lines risk, securities enforcement, fintech exposure and evolving claims trends.

“I focus on delivering clear, commercially grounded advice on complex claims, particularly where US litigation intersects with international coverage, London Market and US considerations.”
