Rory advises on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious issues, with a particular focus on the enforcement and protection of intellectual property rights (including trade marks, copyright and design rights) and the resolution of technology disputes, advising clients on proceedings before the High Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court. He also assists clients with a range of non-contentious issues, including intellectual property and commercial advisory work. Rory's clients range from Big Tech to start-ups in industries including tech, cryptocurrency, gambling, sport, insurance and retail.

Recognised as a "Rising Star" for intellectual property in the Managing IP 2026 rankings, Rory has been commended by clients and colleagues for his knowledge and experience across a broad range of intellectual property issues. Rory's work often includes an international element, developed in part through a six-month secondment to RPC's Hong Kong office spent working on cross-border disputes.

Rory's recent work highlights:

Assisting a major cryptocurrency exchange to defend passing off proceedings relating to the sale of Bitcoin.

Successfully defended Appy Pie, a software company, at trial in the IPEC against trade mark infringement claims, and succeeded on a counterclaim invalidating the claimant’s trade marks

Acting for Aristocrat, the leading gaming manufacturer, in High Court claims for trade mark infringement and passing off against a competitor.

Acting for LINK, the provider of the UK’s ATM network, in relation to IPEC trade mark infringement and passing off proceedings.

Advising a hydrogen power business on the negotiated termination of major partnership agreements, and the navigation of concurrent breach of licence allegations.

Supporting a large media and production company in relation to breach of licence allegations concerning a documentary feature film commissioned by a major broadcaster.
