"Tax disputes are complex and stressful, and clients want to know that their lawyer is fighting their corner."

"Prior to joining RPC I was a lawyer in the Strategic Tax Litigation Team in HMRC's Solicitor's Office for several years. As a result, I have a detailed understanding of how HMRC works and thinks, which brings a unique edge to the advice and strategy I provide to resolve disputes with HMRC.

When it comes to working with clients, I am approachable, pragmatic and results-driven. I pride myself on being a safe pair of hands that my clients can trust to resolve their disputes efficiently and discretely, leaving them to focus on the things that really matter to them.

Responsiveness is key in any successful client relationship - tax disputes are complex and stressful, and clients want to know that their lawyer is fighting their corner. I make myself available, am personable and foster a collaborative partnership where the client remains in control, while I provide the strategic advice they need."

Liam's recent work highlights:

  • Acting for the taxpayers in respect of a dispute concerning the availability of EIS relief on the construction and operation of gas peaking power plants.

  • Acting for a major corporate on a significant anti-dumping dispute.

  • Acting for the taxpayer in a dispute with HMRC on the VAT treatment of remedial cladding works.
