RPC strengthens market-leading international Insurance practice as high-profile Partner Tom Mungovan joins in London
International law firm RPC has appointed Tom Mungovan, a recognised specialist in financial lines and D&O, as a Partner in its London office, further enhancing the firm's global insurance offering.
Tom joins from DWF, having begun his career in the insurance market broking and underwriting for AON and Beazley.
He brings significant experience in complex, high‑value D&O and FI coverage and defence, PI and E&O, as well as property damage coverage. Tom advises many of the leading global insurance companies and is actively involved in the CII, BILA, and the LMA. Tom is a 2024 London Market Forum Award winner and Legal 500 Hall of Fame member. He also sits on St Mary's University College London's School of Business and Law's Advisory Board and is a committed advocate for improving social mobility within the legal profession.
Tom joins RPC's Professional and Financial Risks team at a time of significant momentum. Led by Partner James Wickes, the team advises on some of the market's most significant and complex international losses, supporting insurers on claims involving banks, asset managers, hedge funds, private credit and private equity firms, as well as FinTech firms, crypto/digital asset providers and FX/CFD/Commodities trading firms.
Simon Laird, Partner and Global Head of RPC's Insurance sector, said: "We have bold plans to continue building our international insurance offering, and this marks another significant step towards realising that ambition. People of Tom's calibre don't come on the market that often, so the fact he has chosen to join RPC is a real testament to the strength of our brand and the culture we nurture."
James Wickes added: "Tom's reputation, expertise and sector knowledge speak for themselves, he will add another dimension to how we can support our clients throughout the world. With a demonstrably strong track record of successfully managing multiple client relationships, he brings a collaborative, approachable and open way of operating which will complement the existing team dynamic brilliantly. I can't wait to start working with him."
Commenting on his appointment, Tom said: "I have long admired RPC. It remains one of the go-to firms acting on the most challenging and high-profile claims in the insurance market. The firm has ambitious plans, both within the insurance sector and beyond, and I am delighted to be joining at such an exciting time. Everyone I have met has been both welcoming and impressive, and I am confident that I will enjoy working with such a great team."
