Cavan Fabris has joined international law firm RPC as a Partner in the firm’s Data & Cyber team.

Cavan joins from Deloitte Legal, where he led its Data Privacy practice and co-chaired its TMT group. With over 25 years of experience across private practice, government, and in-house roles, Cavan brings a rare combination of data privacy and cyber security expertise, along with a truly international outlook.

Prior to joining Deloitte Legal, Cavan held senior legal roles at EY Law, served as a technology diplomat for the US State Department under President Obama, and worked as in-house counsel at Apple. He advises a broad range of clients, from innovative startups to FTSE 100 multinationals, on strategic data privacy, cyber incident response, telecoms and regulatory compliance challenges.

Oliver Bray, Senior Partner at RPC and TMT Lead, commented: “We’ve been focused for some time on bringing in the right person to help us shape and grow a best-in-class cyber and data privacy practice – and Cavan is that person. His experience, reputation, and unique mix of skills align perfectly with our ambitions in this space. We're absolutely delighted to welcome him to RPC.”

Commenting on his move, Cavan Fabris added: “RPC has a standout reputation in tech, and I was drawn to the firm’s collaborative culture and sector focus. There is an opportunity to build something unique – a truly integrated data and cyber offering that supports clients on everything from compliance and transactions to incident response and disputes. I’m excited to get started.”

Cavan’s appointment reflects a decision to bring together the existing, market-leading data protection and cyber breach expertise at RPC, into a newly restructured team to bring deep experience in breach response, data risk and regulation together. Known for their calm, commercial approach, the team advises on everything from digital transformation and AI to AdTech strategy, international data transfers and large-scale incident response. With one of the most experienced breach response teams in the market, the team is built to help clients navigate fast-moving threats, complex claims, and a regulatory landscape that’s evolving at pace.
