“I specialise in tax disputes and investigations and advise clients on a broad range of contentious tax issues involving both direct and indirect taxes.

I have extensive experience assisting clients with: managing HMRC enquiries and information notices; appealing HMRC decisions to the Tax Tribunals and Higher Courts all the way up to the Supreme Court; challenging winding-up petitions issued by HMRC's Debt Management team; and issuing Data Subject Access Requests to HMRC and ensuring they are complied with. I have a lot of experience dealing with HMRC and work hard to obtain the best outcome for my clients.

There’s also a strong global dimension to my work, and I’ve been involved in several international tax disputes in Europe, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

Daniel's recent work highlights:

• Currently litigating a groundbreaking issue on behalf of Newcastle United Football Club regarding HMRC's ability to retain documents seized, which will be considered by the Supreme Court.
  
  
• Acting for a FTSE 100 company in respect of two disputes concerning a collective potential tax liability of £350m. The disputes involve complex issues relating to the taxation of dividends, capital gains groups, and US tax law.
  
  
• Acting for a PLC in relation to a £30m VAT, customs origin and anti-dumping duty dispute.
